When things look bleak, and you think something amazing has gone in an instant, just remember:
The Sun may have been shining yesterday, and it may be raining today. But the sun might shine tomorrow.

1. Edward II
This will not come as a surprise to anyone. At all. The Hot House started my fascination with John Heffernan; Edward II cemented it. This production was insane, huge and sprawling and exciting, at times messy but, more importantly full of life. The whole cast were incredible - Kyle Soller cocky and impulsive as Gaveston, Vanessa Kirby a scheming, hysterical Queen Isabella, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith stoic and then manic as Mortimer - but at the centre of it all was frail, magnetic John Heffernan, with his bare feet and thin wrists and lovely tousled hair, delivering verse like he was born doing it and in turns drifting and storming around the stage. This production came at a time when I needed something to focus on and love, and it really helped me get through my first month at uni - I spent weeks reading and re-reading lines, and was kept going by having tickets for the last performance (which made me want to cry - seeing it one last time and being able to share it with Dakin). It may not be the best piece of 2013 theatre from an objective viewpoint, but it was and is so important to me, a beautiful, chaotic tragedy.
#omg nancy don’t even mention john heffernan’s feet to me they are too precious
Did somebody say ‘John Heffernan’s feet’? *helpful face*
If you’re one of those people who’s only going to see Coriolanus because you want to stare at his ass, I have news for you: you are officially one of those creepy guys you’re always bitching about, who leer over teenage girls and objectify women. Congratulations.
If you’re one of those people who’s going to see Coriolanus and you don’t even like Shakespeare? Not only are you uncultured swine, you’re ruining the production for genuine Shakespeare fans. I doubt Tom would approve.
If you’re one of those people who didn’t even get tickets but feels the need to throw themselves at Tom (to the girl who had to be carried off by security, I’m looking at YOU), that’s called stalking, guys. The man is not an object. He does not exist for your personal pleasure, and your behavior is unacceptable. If you really care about the man, show some maturity and restraint and treat him with the same respect he affords his fans- even the ones who really don’t deserve it.
Well, okay to the last paragraph, fair enough. Knowing how to behave is a good thing and if you need to be carried away by security you’re not stagedooring correctly. Though I’d like to point out that not all fans are disrespectful and not all disrespectful people are fans. Not by a long shot.
The rest, though…
To all you lovely Hiddles fans, if you’re going to see a Shakespeare play (or any play, for that matter) for the first time because Tom is in it, WELCOME to you. Welcome to Shakespeare. I hope you enjoy yourselves and I hope you come again. I went to Coriolanus last month because I like Shakespeare and it was one I hadn’t seen yet (I’m not a Hiddles fangirl, I mean look at the lack of him on my blog!) and I could tell I was surrounded by fans but nobody that day was annoying or disrespectful in the slightest. Did they ruin it? Of course they didn’t. Not remotely. Actually it was nice to look around and see so many people look so excited. The ONE person I noticed misbehaving was an elderly man further down my row who kept trying to take photos of the set at the interval and thought Coriolanus was played by a man called Tim. So yes, come along, have a fantastic time, and marvel at what a gift Tom has for Shakespeare and what a brilliant production it is.
As a side note - take it from someone who isn’t at all interested in getting in his pants - he does look pretty hot in his tight jeans. I noticed and I wasn’t even bothered about looking, so nobody’s going to blame you for noticing too

ALL OF THIS ALL OF THIS ALL OF THIS
Nancy said it all far better than I did. A bloody wonderful production that I loved, flaws and all, with all my heart <3 And it was lovely meeting other John fans there, too, so I wasn’t just flailing around over his lovely tousled hair etc on my own xD

FUN FACT!
Do you ever wonder why your lips and tongue sting a little when you’re eating pineapples? It’s because pineapples possess the enzyme bromelain, which breaks down meat proteins.
Basically, when you eat pineapples, pineapples eat you right back.
Pineapples are so metal.
FUN FACT
that rightfully makes me uncomfortable.

David Fynn in She Stoops to Conquer appreciation post, since he was in Sherlock the other day. Basically he’s just working his way round my favourite actors :P

“You’re not hurt, Watson? For God’s sake, say that you are not hurt!"
It was worth a wound — it was worth many wounds — to know the depth of loyalty and love which lay behind that cold mask.
The clear, hard eyes were dimmed for a moment, and the firm lips were shaking. For the one and only time I caught a glimpse of a great heart as well as of a great brain. All my years of humble but single-minded service culminated in that moment of revelation.”
