Steve McQueen and Benedict Cumberbatch during the preview of “12 Years a Slave” at Astor Filmlounge in Berlin. Dec. 08, 2013.
Well, it’s true… xD
I’m impressed he’s sat being so well behaved! Ours would be like ‘Oh, you want to take a photo first do you, well fuck you NOM NOM NOM I’M GONNA EAT ALL THE FOOD NOM NOM NOM *licks plate*’ xD
Verity Lambert, as played by Jessica Raine in An Adventure In Space And Time.
(Thank you for all you did for us, and happy 50th.)
Um…well my final dissertation was on digital reproduction of transient art, in particular NT Live and Live at the Met. Ownership, commodification, the value of ‘liveness’, the culture industry, that kind of stuff, and, erm…well, a large part of it was on elitism vs art for the masses :P (This is why I’m laughing like crazy that I just found out my result today xD) I studied a load of Adorno and people like that, looked at audience feedback, asked a couple of actors what they thought… I hated writing it, because I hate having to get my thoughts into that format, but the actual research was really interesting
Sorry, that’s probably a bit more long-winded than you wanted. Still it is pretty concise by my standards xD
Oh, thank you! Whenever I make a long ranty post I always nearly change my mind and don’t post because I worry I’ll annoy everyone or that I’ve missed the point and will look like an idiot. I nearly didn’t reply to that post at all, but this is a subject I care about too much to be able to hold my tongue. So thank you for your message, it means a lot to me you’ve said that, it really does <3
Oh, bless you for saying so, I really just rambled on! I hate arguing, I just think it’s something that matters. And if I’m wrong, I like to be told why, not just informed repeatedly that I’ve missed the point. If you can’t explain why I’m wrong, I’m going to assume that you can’t. And if you can’t…well. One wonders why…! I haven’t the patience to debate how ‘go and fuck yourself…don’t go into the theatre’ means anything other than ‘don’t go to the theatre’. I’m bowing out now, satisfied that my point has been made :P
(God, see what I mean about rambling on! TL;DR - thank you! xD)
Indeed there are!
I love the Royal Court, it was the first theatre I went to in London off my own back without my parents coming to look after me! Why? Because a hot actor was in a show, of course xD But yes, it’s a fantastic place. Always a lovely atmosphere there too. Apart from a stern looking woman once asking me to leave a table in the bar so that she could use it because ‘I need to put my olives down’ (WTF?) I’ve always felt very happy there
I realise this is rather funny timing what with me currently being mid-cultural debate, but I just found out I passed my Masters! I have a degree in CULTURE! At last! I’m so fucking relieved xD
